PAST TENSE OF TO BE

Look carefully the next examples:

1.- I was at the beach last weekend.




2.- We were at the party last friday night.



3.-My brother was at the park yesterday afternoon.



4.- My parents were at work this morning.


5.- I was at school this morning.





Check the sentences:


We use         WAS           with I,   HE, SHE, IT

We use           WERE         with  WE, YOU, THEY


I was at school this morning
My brother was in the park

My parents were at work.
We were at the party.


Look carefully



We can make negative and interrogative sentences with the past forms
of to be.

NEGATIVE FORMS...-- WAS NOT  ----   wasn't
                                          WERE NOT -----  weren't

I wasn't at home yesterday.
My sister wasn't at school last friday.
We weren't in the park yesterday afternoon.
They weren't with us last weekend.

INTERROGATIVE FORMS
